The rivers, creeks and
tributaries are not expected to crest until some time next week, so it isn’t
over.
According to the World
Health Organization, floods can potentially increase the transmission of the
following communicable diseases: Water-borne diseases, such as typhoid fever,
cholera, leptospirosis and hepatitis A. Vector-borne diseases, such as malaria,
dengue and dengue haemorrhagic fever, yellow fever, and West Nile Fever.
People dealing with
this will have issues related to the flooding for months and possibly years. We
know many of those that we serve in Arkansas and surrounding states live in
areas that are prone to natural disasters.
