Important information from World Services for the Blind

Folks,
To address all the rumors floating through our community, I asked Dr. Schwartz for a comment. Please read her response below.  Dr. Janet
Please post on OIB blog:

“As you may have heard, World Services for the Blind (WSB) is currently facing financial difficulties. This is a challenging time for the organization and our clients, staff, and stakeholders. WSB is not closing its doors. However, as a result of the current situation we will be extending WSB’s usual holiday closure period, beginning December 19th, in order to allow time for leaders to determine the best way to move forward. We recognize that clients, their families, and others, will be impacted by this extended holiday period and WSB’s incredible staff members are doing what they can to minimize the impact and support clients in preparing for this transition. Please keep WSB clients, staff, and leadership in your thoughts as we work through this process. We thank you for your support and we look forward to returning in the new year as committed as ever to our mission: empowering adults who are blind or visually impaired to achieve sustainable independence. “

Thanks so much.
